How To Treat Leishmaniasis

Table of Contents

Leishmania can damage numerous body systems causing a variety of symptoms

What Are The Symptoms Of Leishmaniasis?

Symptoms can be generalised malaise with lethargy, inappetence, weight loss, vomiting, diarrhoea, runny eyes, thirst and dehydration, with the most obvious being skin lesions which can range from a small spot to an ulcerative lesion to crusty eruptions all over the body.

The small red bump in the skin usually develops into the ulcerative lesion which grows in all directions rapidly, with raised edges, rather like a volcano.

I have had this myself and treated it aggressively for 2 months to finally stop its progression and promote healing. This treatment protocol works for dogs too. Here are the details :

How I Treated My Leishmaniasis

Four times every day, I scrubbed out the wound with cotton wool soaked in boiling water, getting right down into the depths by pushing the boiling cotton wool down with a metal implement and twisting it around. Amazingly, it doesn’t hurt at all.

After several such scrubbings, I applied CDS, a hyper oxygenating liquid like Aerobic Oxygen which has the reputation of killing all pathogens. I think hydrogen peroxide would be equally effective.

The liquid oxygen has the reputation of killing all pathogens. I think hydrogen peroxide would be equally effective.

I then packed it with Argiletz Green Clay and repeated this whole procedure 4 times every day for 2 months.

The key is to be persistent and consistent. Some people take a half-hearted approach and end up in hospital for months. So take it seriously!

Many people also take CDS (Aerobic oxygen or its equivalent as above) orally every 15 minutes on an empty stomach for 2 hours every morning and every evening. I have also given this to dogs with great results. This would be particularly helpful for the systemically infected animals and humans, showing generalised body symptoms of severe malaise as described above.

What Is Leishmaniasis?

Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease of humans, dogs and some other animals. The protozoal parasite is transmitted by the bite of an infected sandfly in the tropics and sub-tropics, where sandflies thrive. These flies are most active at dawn and dusk, mainly outside.

How To Prevent Leishmaniasis

Prevention is relatively easy for humans: keep off the beach and the great outdoors at dawn and dusk. If you must go out, wear long sleeved shirts, long trousers and boots, but this is a challenge for our dogs! So best to keep them indoors until the sun has completely risen or set, when the sandflies go back to sleep!

There are various insect repellents, spot-on preparations and repellent essential oils, herbs and spices that can be used to deter the sandflies from biting.

Feeding Billy No Mates

Giving your dog Billy No Mates every day is a very effective way of repelling all manner of insects, ticks and fleas. Whilst sandflies are not specifically mentioned by the Billy No Mates marketing text, sandflies are very unlikely to bite a dog that takes Billy No Mates!

Feeding your dog a little piece of raw garlic in their food has acted as an effective deterrent for
centuries.

Adding a few drops of pungent essential oils to a 100% cotton cloth or bandana and placing it around your dog’s neck also repels many ticks and insects. Lemon, orange, lavender, cinnamon, peppermint and rose geranium essential oils have been used successfully for centuries.

As with protection from any illness, a good strong immune system is critical. Adding PET Plus to the diet is essential, along with all the other lifestyle recommendations in this article
